Welcome to Carolcosmoart
I feel repurposing items that are no longer 'perfect' or useful is important, therefore I primarily use reclaimed substrates in my art. The image to the right is an old wooden cutting board that is now art; it may not be perfect, in fact, you can see old knife marks on it, but that's what makes it unique and special.

About carolcosmoart
My Story
- I started my creative journey in high school painting; in college I took darkroom photography and decided to major in Fine Art. After a few years I changed my major to English Literature.
- Art started off as therapy for my anxious brain
- I enjoy experimenting with photographic transfer techniques
- Many things that are considered disposable by most, could be used in art
Sourcing My Substrates
- Reducing waste is important to me; one way to do that is to REUSE. I take items that would be burned or put into a landfill and transform them into a unique piece of art.
- I source my substrates from various places, including, free piles on the street, Buy Nothing groups, Reclaim It!, The Rebuilding Center, friends and family.
- I've used old pallets, discarded cabinets, cutting boards, and scraps of plywood.
- Imperfections that come with something previously used are interesting and give the work character. No two pieces are ever the same.
- Photograph, edit and print desired image
- find a suitable substrate and prepare it accordingly
- use my homemade Lictenburg burning machine on the wood if desired
- transfer image to substrate and embellish
- Patterns in Nature fascinate me and are a big inspiration
- I annoy my family by taking photographs everywhere we go
